We are pleased to announce that the Plenary Sessions for The 16th Asian Conference on Education & International Development (ACEID2026), The 16th Asian Conference on Psychology & the Behavioral Sciences (ACP2026), and The 12th Asian Conference on Aging & Gerontology (AGen2026) will take place at the Tokyo International Forum.
This change reflects our intention to provide a high-quality environment for featured speakers and attendees, and to support the continued growth of the conferences.
The Tokyo International Forum offers a well-equipped and centrally located venue for keynote presentations and plenary panels. The Forum is located near Tokyo Station, with easy access to public transport and major cultural landmarks. This move supports our aim of delivering an effective and professional experience for all participants.
About the Tokyo International Forum
The Tokyo International Forum stands as one of Japan’s most prominent venues for communicating culture and innovation. The venue is centrally located in the Marunouchi business district, near the historic Imperial Palace. The Tokyo International Forum maintains a diverse, world-class programme each year, hosting academic conferences, orchestral performances, and international conventia.
Designed by Uruguayan-American architect Rafael Viñoly, the Forum was completed in 1997 following an international competition that sought a bold vision for a new civic space. Its central feature—a vast glass atrium that runs the length of the building—was conceived not just as an architectural gesture, but as a metaphor for transparency, connection, and movement. The result is both a functional public venue and a lasting symbol of Japan’s post-bubble ambition to reposition Tokyo as an international hub for culture, diplomacy, and intellectual engagement.
Built on the site of the former Tokyo City Hall, the Forum was part of a broader urban transformation in the late 1990s that aimed to revitalise the city centre. Over the past two decades, it has become a regular host to major global events, including the World Economic Forum Japan Meeting, the Tokyo International Film Festival, and international summits organised by UNESCO, the OECD, and various Japanese ministries. The Forum has also welcomed orchestras, theatre companies, and speakers from around the world, establishing itself as a truly interdisciplinary platform.
Its proximity to Tokyo Station, as well as key cultural sites in Ginza, Yurakucho, and Nagatachō, makes the Forum particularly well placed for IAFOR’s Spring Conference Programme in Tokyo. Delegates arriving from across Japan and abroad are able to connect with each other and explore the city’s history, institutions, and local culture.
The decision to host plenary sessions at the Tokyo International Forum reflects IAFOR’s shared commitment to public-facing scholarship and international exchange. It places the conferences within a wider civic and cultural context, and offers participants the opportunity to contribute to the kind of open, interdisciplinary dialogue that the Forum was designed to support.
