Sexuality education in kindergartens plays an essential role in helping children develop a healthy understanding of their bodies, learn self-protection, respect others, and build positive gender awareness and interpersonal skills. This study aims to investigate the experiences and challenges faced by first and fourth-year pre-service teachers in learning about early childhood sexuality education, and examines differences in their perceived teaching competence and quality of comprehensive sexuality education delivery. A quantitative research design was employed, involving 70 pre-service teachers aged 18–25. Participants completed the Teacher Competence and Quality Delivery of Comprehensive Sexuality Lessons scale (Chibalange & Annie, 2024) to assess their perspectives. Data were analyzed using independent samples t-tests to identify group differences. The results indicated significant differences in sexuality education knowledge across grade levels. Pre-service teachers without internship experience demonstrated lower competence in sexuality education learning, whereas those with internship experience exhibited higher levels of understanding and teaching effectiveness. The findings highlight the need to strengthen the design and implementation of pre-service sexuality education courses, especially by including learning content related to early childhood sexuality education in the curriculum to enhance teachers’ professionalism and instructional quality.
